Live bait in WA
« on: March 06, 2022, 03:38:52 PM »
You know what really grinds my gears? In fresh water, you can catch a little minnow that you legally are allowed to keep an unlimited amount of such as peamouth in the Columbia River, but it's illegal to put that same minnow back in the water with a hook attached for bait. There's no transfer of invasives. You're fishing exactly where you caught the minnow. God forbid you put that minnow back in the water with a hook in it! I get their intention with the law, invasive species are a real problem especially those bass, walleye, catfish, perch and carp in the Columbia. If only there was a better way of removing them from the river that they just can't resist...  :dunno: :twocents:

Was raised in upstate NY using minnows for bait.
Had a hard time trying to figure out how to fish not using natural baits when I first moved out here .
