Mayfield Lake
« on: April 08, 2022, 11:14:18 AM »
Anybody ever hit up Mayfield for Tiger Muskies? Or have any close encounters with them fishing for other species? A friend and I want to give it a shot and were thinking to try later this month. We've caught them in Tapps and he's caught a bunch in Merwin but I haven't tried Mayfield. Thanks in advance.

It’s better when it warms up but that shouldn’t stop ya. Spinner baits and bucktails have worked best for us around wood and weeds.

Thanks! I take it I won't be able to see to the bottom like I can at Merwin. Its cool to see 10 foot wide stumps under 20 feet of water.

You can see the Mayfield fish real well. But yes, I believe you really should have better luck in summer.

The only problem with summer time is the recreational boaters you have to deal with.
I rented a boat at the marina last summer and was repeatably buzzed by the boaters that cant resist interfering with your fishing experience.
Its a small body of water.
Common courtesy doesn't seem to exist on the waters anymore.

Get to the launches early or you won't have a place to park during warm weather.

Talk to the old guy at the resort off Winston creek rd

https://lakemayfield.com/

Good info when we talked to him
Just never actually went afterwards though
