Doves - the other things that fly
« on: March 03, 2007, 08:24:07 PM »
Not waterfowl, hehe, but we had a great dove opener last Sept. in spots around the Pateros and Chelan. Better the second day than the first.

How was your bird season? 8)

We always do fairly well with doves here in Moses Lake...although last yr was slower than most...I didnt shoot a single goose this yr although I dont go much since deer and elk take up alot of my time...

I was up around Pateros last Sept. and saw a lot of Doves. No one was hunting because the news reported that the smoke from the wildfires was bad. Those grain fields the state planted was full of doves. Only saw 2 other hunters.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

We pounded them hard last year.  I've always loved shooting dove but last year drove me to buy a 20 gauge O/U after the season.  We had a couple of fields around Moses Lake that were just dynamite! 20 minute limits for 4 or 5 guys.  Went through the shells out there.

need to get out and scout a bit next month to see how my fields look this year.
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

I'm going to get a new pump 20 gage........ I think you just helped me decide.

Didn't they cut the Dove limits from 10 to 3??? I hunted near Royal City for years and all 4 of my hunting partners and my self had no troubles filling out limits every day. Now they say the dove are on the decline....... :dunno: Kinda of a long way to drive from the west side for just 3 birds a day. :(

Nope the limit is still ten!  Should have a great shoot as always here around moses, got quite a few fields to hit probably just use the one it always has hundreds in it.
