CVA Accura LR-X Load Development Part 3 - Bear Season
« on: May 06, 2022, 07:33:52 AM »
We were back at it on the range with the .50 caliber CVA Accura LR-X with the goal of getting a good load for our spring bear hunt in Oregon. We are using Pyrodex Select, Thor Lighting Bullets, Federal 209A Primers, Anarchy Outdoors Muzzle Brake, and Burris RT-25 Scope.

We latter tested with 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, & 105 grains by weight of Pyrodex Select and determined that 105 by weight was the best charge with this gun and powder combination. We were able to achieve a standard deviation of 79 (I think this number can be reduced with some fine-tuning) with an average muzzle velocity of 2,175fps and we shot a pretty decent group at 100 yards (this too I think can be reduced with a few adjustments). I think that this muzzleloader is almost ready for bear season!
