I don't think you have to be a hunter to be on the commission.  I do think you need to have an understanding of the positive impacts that hunting offers.  I also think you must have an open mind and not be an anti-hunter.

Not to judge a book by its cover but just looking at the screenshots, do any of them really look like they are avid hunters or anglers?

Anderson is both and has the high distinction to be the only non Indian to chair the NWIFC Northwest Indian Fisheries Council. Mc Isaac is a fisherman and hunted in his youth. Lehmkule has purchased a small game and turkey tag in this state.

Thorburn is not a hunter and If Im not mistaken a Vegetarian, amazingly enough I belive her to be our strongest and moust outspoken commission. Only Her and Mc Iassac stood for keeping coyote derbies.

Baker is a lawyer, smart but anti hunting, Smith... I feel dumber listening to her. Rowland has purchased a fishing license and Ragen has had neither a hunting or fishing Lic and is focused on the protection and preservation of predators of the water.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Our Mission (Wildlife Commission)
To preserve, protect and perpetuate fish, wildlife and ecosystems while providing sustainable fish and wildlife recreational and commercial opportunities.

"Commissioner Rowland stated she has no interest in discussing spring bear as she feels we should not have one." She's using her personal political beliefs instead of wildlife science to determine what she thinks is right or wrong. In my opinion, someone who is anti-sustainable-hunting by any extent whatsoever should not be on the Commission, as it is contrary to their stated mission.

I would argue their not even leaning towards environmentalists, they are leaning towards screw hunting in general and let the woods sort it out. But they forget we have taken large portions of those animals lands, so by not managing them appropriately it's only going to end in disaster. Bears having to be put down for human conflict, cougars same thing, prey animals dying in water ways and spreading disease. They don't care about the wildlife at all, they care about getting rid of hunting period. Or so it seems.

There's also an RCW 77.04.040 which states that the Governor shall seek to maintain a balance reflecting all aspects of fish and wildlife, including representation recommended by organized groups representing sport fishers, commercial fishers, hunters, private landowners, environmentalists. Currently the commission is way too far leaning towards environmentalists. Not sure how we could come together to challenge this but its worth discussing.

If Smith "doesn't have the energy" to re-discuss the Spring Bear issue, then she needs to resign.

I can guarantee that after the 2020 spring bear hunt was cancelled because of covid and so many people got upset about it and made such a big deal that Emperor Inslee said behind closed doors "oh yeah, well I'll just cancel your spring bear forever if you don't want to bend the knee". And that my friends is why this worthless piece of trash is on the commission.

Believe me Rowland has no qualms about admitting she is an anti hunter. It pretty much is known in the valley she has a distaste for them.

I think ideally they’re all neutral in terms of hunting and fishing. Obviously we want them to be as pro-hunting/fishing as possible but I’m not sure that’s realistic. Neutral should at least be a thing.

This x1000. I mean really this should be presented to whoever the hail is in charge of her job and it should be considered. She doesn’t have the energy to do her job?? See ya, don’t let the door hit you …

I'm sure she follows the science and is aware the CCT has this type of season in the NE corner of the state. If someone pointed out this to her. Her response would be we are not concerned what the tribes are doing. We are just looking out for the best outcome for the cute bears.

Here are the tag quotas for the CCT

Black Bear Any legal weapon
Either
Sex
Year round
NH - Required No daily or season
bag limit SH - Not Required
March 1 -
June 30
Game Reserve Bear Permit
Required
Two (2) Game
Reserve Bear per year

Page 17

Not making this a tribal issue but is this because of better management or?

Unless I am misreading this there's no daily limit or season limit but opened year-round in the north half.

This is not an issue between the CCT and Sportsman. This is between the Sportsman and your governor and his game commission.

This is not an issue between the CCT and Sportsman. This is between the Sportsman and your governor and his game commission.

Not all Colville will shoot bears... and if you read that whole link you will find the they can manage the north half better than the WDFW and its Commissioners that are anti hunters. Sportsmen are going to need to get squared away on  swallowing disagreements with the tribes. They are likely our only hope with all the anti hunters that have infested the WDFW and this state.  :twocents:

I do believe that was my point. They manage the same ground as WDFW.
