Centralia Mines Cow Tag early September
«

I drew a 65 and older cow tag for the Centralia Mines unit. Anyone tell me what I can expect on that hunt? Only five tags selected for three weeks early September. I know you have to be let into the unit with a worker? Any elk consistently taken there? This is a MF hunt. Any help is appreciated!

Pretty sure the workers will know where they are and in parkland I was told take you right to them , more of a harvest than a hunt but it’s all
2nd hand knowledge I have never been just a few people I know

Done it a couple of times. Yes you meet with the workers and they go over a list of do and do nots. Then you go out and drive around till you find your animal then shoot it. The ride a side by side to it if not able to be truck then help you load it and you check out and are on your way. We took less than 4 hrs to complete it but I know of two guys that never did get anything and yes it is more of a harvest than a hunt. Most shots were under 250yds.

I also drew the same tag this year with 14 points.
There's a member here that is (was?) an employee of the Mine that assisted hunters with their hunts.
Do a search on "Centralia Mine" and you'll be able to read the same threads that I did this AM.
Good Luck!!
My main question stems around the dates of my hunt. Do I get to choose or will I be assigned one of the two weekends without being able to tell them my preference?

As soon as I get a list from WDFW on successful hunt winners I'll be reaching out for sure. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions. Look forward to meeting those who were successful.
Thanks,
Cody

you will have no problem filling that tag, son drew disabled tag years ago and we had the elk in the back of my truck in less than 30 minutes, they used a loader to put in back of truck. easy hunt take your time lots of elk.
