Scratches on truck's paint

First time I've ever been keyed.  Looks like it might have made it to the metal on one spot - anybody have a recommended product that can help hide/protect the steel until I have time to deal with it properly?

That really sucks that someone would do that. I’d consult with a body shop. I suspect using an epoxy sealing primer wouldn’t hurt anything since it has to be sanded out anyway

Get some of that scratch hider wax and as stated above call a paint and body shop

Copy that. I'll see what our local auto parts store has on the shelf tomorrow, otherwise I'll order that from Amazon and take care of it when I get back from my next trip.

People can suck.  I don't know what they get out of property damage like this. Funny thing is for 7 years I left my truck unattended for months on end in my alley in Everett, and it never got messed with at all. Couple months up in the tiny town on the island, and it gets keyed when I'm out fishing for a week.

The lesson - you can't get away from the dregs of society no matter where to go.

I used Groits Complete Compound on clear coat scratches on the mustang. Worked good. Probably not find over there in a store.
They have How To video - Polish - 3 step correct.   Compound for deep stuff.

If it's to the paint, I would be tempted to go to an auto parts store and grab some touch up.  You might luck out and find matching paint, otherwise Amazon probably has it.

If you just want to protect the sheet metal till you can properly fix it, spray paint it.  None of that is buffing out. It’ll need to be painted. You’re not going to damage the door any further than it already is if you’re going to properly fix it. You should be able to buy touch up spray paint based off of the paint code, which would be on the vin sticker in the door jamb.

That sucks! You must have out fished somebody badly... so much for hoping AK was immune to that sort of immaturity.

Like jackalope said. Get some paint on it, a wax will only work until it wears off which isn’t long. Autoparts stores even sell touch up pens that are color coded for scratches and chips. You might even be able to touch it up wet sand it and wax it and make it disappear

Take it to the trail.
Add about 1000 more scratch.
Blend right in .
Gotta turn it into a positive ,never know what might end up in the back of pickup.
Blending those in.
