My old man and I got our tags off the alternates list a couple of years ago.  Not sure what number we were but we didnt get "offered" tags until July or August.  We just got a letter in the mail stating we could buy tags if we wanted (first come, first served) and it didnt affect our bonus point.

101 is a great number, you should be in. I'm 823 for the deer combo so it looks like No Montana for me this year  :'(

Last year we had two in our party that weren't drawn on the original and got in on the alternate.  They were 200's and 600's.  You should have no problem with 101.  Good luck

Typically they give out about 500 tags for combo that have been turned back in. If you are under that you have a great chance of receiving a tag. In addition, if you draw a tag via this route you don't lose your points.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Navy I think you misread my number.  I am # 1,261 (one thousand, two hundred, sixty one) on the alternates list.  I don't think this is my year.  But thanks for the positive thinking. :)

Was that just for Deer or for Deer and Elk combo?

Just the deer.

I figured it must have been I was 500 for the Derr and Elk combo and drew last year! It's pretty tough to draw the Deer only ... you have to figure the combo with 13k tags has a return of about 5-600 the Deer only is going to be much less!

Got back from Utah sunday, just slipped my money and application in the mail this morning. I checked my status yesterday and it said I had dropped from 67 to 36, I am not sure if my wife will get a tag or not at 106....

I heard they were going to give everybody on the alternate for combo a tag??? I assume because the last few years they have had to extend the season through Dec. 15th so they may as well just give out more tags early and one way to do that is to reward all those alternate list ... after all they obviously want the tag!!!

Haha thats funny Mray......as I was reading your post the random photo was one of you and your montana deer last year! I kind of got the vibe from a few of her remarks that that was a possibility.......I would love it if both my dad and I got one! I know they opened it up to all the elk/deer combo alternates.....I truly wish that money was not an issue for me.....the 300 and change is a stretch right now.

Montana opened up the Combo tags from the Alternates list.  Doesnt or didnt matter were you are on the list, print the new application and mail in a check first come first served.  Im leaving November 1st for Montana, and here I thought at 1100 I wasnt going, luck has changed!
