Anyone get anything good at the GI Joes going out of business sales?
Stopped by today (Mon, 5/18) and they had ammo at 40% off, guns 30%, tackle 50%, everything else 60%.

I got:
Remington 700 SPS .270 WSM for $360, normally $520, and the salesman threw in a set of free Leupold mounting bases and scope rings.
Columbia River Knifes and Tools skinning knife, normally $50, got it for like $18 or so.
Rivers West H2P Ambush Jacket, normally $229, got it for $89.
Wolverine hunting boots, normally $99, got them for $59.
Tons of ammo (303 british, turkey load shells, steel load upland shells, .270 rounds) for 40% off. They had quite a bit of 7mm left when I was there, and some shells of various assortments. Lots of 303 British left.
Cedar w/ leather handle ammo case, normally $45, paid around $22 I think.

I'm off to Cabelas tomorrow to pick up a scope for the new .270 WSM, hopefully I can find something cheap and decent, too broke after buying all of that stuff. Leaning towards the Pine Ridge 3-9x40 or 3-9x50 scopes, they're about the nicest ones in my price range.
Hopefully I can find some 38 special rounds there too, haven't seen any in stores for months in any Wal-Marts, Sportsman's, etc.

They're only open for 9 more days until they close their doors forever.

Something along the lines of a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40 w/ long range duplex or a Nikon Buckmaster series?
I am considering springing for one of those options, but I refuse to spend more than $250 on a scope. Getting ready to start grad school and if the money isn't there I can't spend it. Once grad school is over its a different story...

Check Cabelas bargain barn before you go upstairs to look at scopes.  Sometimes you can save a bundle on optics.

i like to consider used scopes as a way of saving a couple bucks. check 24hourcampfire.com
lots of leupold scopes for sale there...keep an eye peeled and you can find a deal.

On to the subject - the sale is winding down and the stores are pretty picked over.  I picked up a couple of Lamiglas salmon rods for my dad and a buddy.  I bought myself an 8'6" GL2 steelhead rod.  I bought some other odds and ends in the clothes and camping stuff.

I was going to go back now that it is 50% - 70% off to see what else I can find.

The Federal Way Joes still had a couple dozen boxes of 303 British left as of two days ago.  All by itself on an otherwise empty shelf.
Friend: "Are you free tonight?"
Me:  (Gazing into the distance as a bald eagle screeches)  "I'm always free"

A few Swaro scopes,  2 loomis rods, 3 abu reels, tons of maxima line, pounds of hooks, several dozen different types of lures, ammo ammo and more ammo, a couple of coffin blinds and the camo grass for them, 4 new sets of camo and a lot of extras,  several dozen decoys,  game calls, and lord knows what else!  I have given them over 4g's in the last month and a half!

I passed up a bow that was 40% off their normal price. Had it been a complete package, I probably would have gone for it, but it only seemed to be a 'good' deal, not a 'screaming' deal.   :twocents:
