Teanaway Quality Buck Modern Firearm
« on: September 21, 2022, 06:30:03 PM »
Curious if there is anyone on here that has had success the last couple of years on the Teanaway Quality Buck hunt Modern Firearm? You can say wolves, it’s not a good tag, etc but I’m trying to make the most of it. I know the unit pretty well and I know it holds some nice bucks here and there. Just wondering from others who have had success if you want to hunt the lower country, higher country? Not really familiar with any migration routes in there. Any help would be great, really want to fill this tag. Planning on being out there the whole week, Nov 14-20.

There are some big bucks in there, I’ve never hunted it but I had some customers that hunted it and still do, they get nice bucks in there occasionally. Like you said, not what it used to be but most of the “big time” deer areas aren’t what they used to be. If you know the area as said, you’ll do fine with that tag.

The potential is there, and the wolves have had a tremendous impact sad to say.  Have a good hunt.

Lived in the Teanaway for going on 42 years now, it's not what it used to be, having said that I know of bucks taken last few years that will knock your socks off. You have tons of public land to find a decent buck, hope for early snow. Get up as high as you can.

had this tag in 2016, a 2nd choice selection, blowing 10 points.

I filled the tag, the hunt was good, in the outdoors better than being at the office, but.....MOST DISAPPOINTING DRAW PERMIT i EVER HAD!
Of 15 bucks glassed, not one would score over 150. And only 1 of those bucks was a mainframe 4x4.
Covered alot of back country terrain away from the roads, no road hunter here.

and I knew the unit well, from Iron-Blue-Mineral Creeks, up to Teanaway Ridge Trail, Dickey Creek basin, and high country up main Teanaway road.
Had snow conditions, cold temps, should have been perfect, wasn't.

and wolves are worse today versus 6 years ago. I spotted wolves at distance thru spotter on 3 different days of my 8-day hunt.
