Which is It? Buck or BuckS
« on: November 09, 2022, 07:04:37 PM »
More than one buck...do you say I saw 2 buck or do you say I saw two bucks? I talked with a hunter that came from back east and he said he saw 14 buck. Fill me in...

I say bucks if there are more than one. May be a east vs west thing like adding all the points up

It really boils down to proper English. I saw a buck today, yesterday I saw two bucks in the same spot. Trust me I’m no grammar expert, but it’s that easy.

I think it’s just east/south slang.😉

I always say bucks if there are multiple. And does for that matter. And I say saw rather than seen.

That said I have one buddy whose whole family say buck, doe and seen.... "I seen a couple buck with a bunch of doe today."

Really grinds my gears.

I’m trying to get my grammar around this one

One doe does not like to be shot at.
Two does do want you to shoot the buck standing behind them.
Or is it …. Two doe is proper but Trudeau is an idiot.

Kind of a moot point in WA, isn't it.   :dunno:  Sorry, couldn't resist.

And if they said " I saw 13 buck deer today", would that be an issue?

I think that is where it is coming from.  Just shortening the phrase.

That would be correct as "deer" is the noun and buck is the adjective if I remember right?

I haven't heard it much but I remember one guy I used to work with would always say "I saw ten doe yesterday." When he talked about bucks he always used the plural form. I always thought it was weird.
