How much will a big otter weigh and length?

I didn't weigh him but my biggest buck otter is about to come off a five foot board and tip of the tail is about 3" from the end of the board

i caught one last year that was 31# and i measured at 62". giant old boy. should have mounted it.  that is not the norm i think though. a big otter, according to all my trapping books is 'up to' 25# and 'up to' 48". i had to stack two boards together to stretch him. ill see if i can find a pic

I caught two otter side by side one time that weighed 38# and 39#. I would not swear to the accuracy of the scales but not too far off. Out of the ordinary though. Like said 25# is a big otter.

I caught one last year at a salmon hatchery in BC that was weighed by one of the BCTA directors. It was reported to weigh 23.8 kg or 52.47 pounds. It was NOT a svelte otter

Wow, that guy was eating well. Glad to see a trapper from north of the border on here.

My biggest otters were only just over 30 lbs.  Good idea getting one mounted. Does anyone know of a good taxidermist who can and has done otters right? I had my first Marten mounted by a fairly new taxidermist and it hurts a little to look at it.

Probably the hardest animals for most taxidermists to get right are bobcats, otter, and marten. If the taxidermist doesn't have pictures of previous work he has done, that should be a clue to look for someone else.

I think many new taxidermists think that the forms they buy are anatomically correct. That might be the case for deer, but most anything else is just an approximation; particularly on the smaller animals. A taxidermist talent will really show when they can take a form and rework it to make it correct.

This is Otto The Attack Otter.  32#'s   There is a good shot he is the Alpha that attacked the kid and grandma on the Pilchuck in 2014 .  He had a 31# and a 29# with him.  Caught a 28# and 25# the next day.  All 5 were incidentals on WCO job here in Granite Falls.  Caught right before Christmas in 2017.
