Remember to wait to see if it is an actual charge and not a bluff. If it turns off to the side, it is a bluff.
Ya right :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Wait till you can give the bear a dental examine and vet check. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

The big take away that everyone should glean from all that is whatever you choose whether spray or pistol, is be proficient with it. Never take your life, or more importantly the lives of the people you are with lightly. Practice like you play as the saying goes  :twocents:
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Omg that was hard to look at
Definitely not good.
First aid rule number 1 right there.
If it looks bad ,probably need to cover it up with a bandage.

 :yeah:

As my instructor used to say, that qualifies for the gross injury rule, that which grosses me out should be immediately covered with gauze and kerlix.
Sounds like the same instructor.
Think it went something like.
If it's ugly cover it up.

Yep, we were taught if it is ugly or there is a hole, to pack I and wrap it, call for extraction

If I need a permit and education to buy a firearm than women should need a permit and education  before getting an abortion.

Well if that happens at least the pain from the bear attack won't be the single worst thing at that moment in your life!

That is a great story you posted!

We're planning a Yellowstone and Glacier trip, this was my plan, especially if we do some fishing and hiking.

BE CAREFUL
We have friends with a cabin along the highway on the southern border of Glacier, they see grizz all the time in the summer.

Remember to wait to see if it is an actual charge and not a bluff. If it turns off to the side, it is a bluff.

I hope you all know that was satire. I should have put “If it does not turn aside it is an attack”, which means it would be WAY too late.
In the 70’s I read (do not remember the name) a study about Griz attacks and the conclusion they came to was no matter what you do, it was 50/50 whether you got attacked or not if they came at you. Great. Coin flip!
The color pic of the attacked guy is pretty amazingly bad. Considering the damage, the ‘after repairs’ pics look pretty good. Pretty crazy what damage our bodies can endure and still survive. Good on the son to keep it together during the ordeal.
I was attacked by a 50 pound dog and was surprised by the damage inflicted in less than 5 seconds. And it ceased the attack. I would not care to have something many times that having it’s way with me and continuing the attack ‘with purpose’.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!

Stolen from GWP’s post

Seeing this coming and you are 30+ mph I believe the concept of a bluff charge would disappear as fast as my pants would fill.

No such thing as a bluff charge, by the time you could tell, I would be too late to act.

That bear is obviously diving on a fish.
People that are afraid of bears should just stay out of the woods and leave them to the hippie trail runners with headphones on.
