2023 spring bear
« on: April 30, 2023, 09:03:35 PM »
Made first trip this weekend.
Timing seemed perfect but could glass up any bears
Few moose , lots of deer and coyotes and turkeys.
One bull we named Elliot he had both antlers one day and lost one overnight.
He had a deformed horn.  Glasses up a cool 6pt shed, could get to it.
Got 10 days next week so hopefully it’s another good year.

That's a steep hill that ole moose is on...

Looks like a fun time.
And he wore a hat
And he had a job
And he brought home the bacon
So that no one knew...

No meat in cooler
Had a good time, saw bears, several moose, and tons of elk.
Almost pulled trigger on a red colored ear but just ran out of light.
Will take daughter this week

And those are memories, for both of you, that'll far outlast any animal you'll ever notch a tag on.

Is that a shed hunting goat.  :chuckle:

Well
Holy smokes
I can’t be gone to tell my weekend hunt
Our little 2 day hunt turned into a hunt that won’t be repeated
15 mile quad ride up a tough road. 2 bears in a hour spotted. Lightning strikes a tree 200 yards away, hail storm.
Then another 3 bears.
A beautiful morning sunrise then 2 bears
Get to a drainage and watch a Big boy walk across snow. He leaves before a trigger is pulled
5 minutes anther black bear comes out. Winds us and goes to trees.
5 minutes and 2 brown colored bears cross a ridge and drop down towards us.
I get to drop one. Other gets away
Big blackie comes back out but not sir long.
Go clean him out.
The go down hill always and glass. Right before dark a bear walks out and dad is able to shoot. We see a paw fly backwards in brush. Next morning we recover him.
With truck problems, quad problems, little snow , wolfs tracking down a warden Sunday night. We had a blast
13 bears , 2 brought home
Now a year to think about it
