I can't wait to hit the salt. As soon as I get a chance I will be more than happy to bonk a few pinks on light tackle.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

Ok. CP has convinced me it’s time. That’s some good looking stuff right there!! Nice job!

What advice do y'all have for someone getting into fishing from shore in the south seattle area? I got skunked fishing the des moines pier and lots on the duwamish 2 years ago. Saw lots of fish moving in the river, but couldn't get them to bite on anything I threw.

I won't speak to the piers as I don't target them in the salt but I have fished them in the Duwamish quite a bit. I use just the hoochie jigs either 1/8 or 1/4oz. Cast out and use a pop/pause retrieve. If you are shore bound maybe upsize to a 3/8oz. I like to start fishing a couple hours before a high tide and fish all the way through it, the action seems to improve as you get to the high tide. Late August through Labor day weekend was the best time.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

It's hard to beat a 2.5" buzzbomb fished from any of the beaches in and around Seattle.

Thanks for the tips! Do you guys use scents on your lures or don't bother?

Pinks are willing biters. As already stated, use a 2-1/2” buzz bomb in pink or white with a pink stripe down the center of each side. Cast it out there and let it sink a bit and then just jig and real it back in. If they are there they’ll hammer it.

Sunday we focused on coho in MA10 and ended up going 50/50 coho/pink.

We dropped gear as fast as possible to 80 feet and worked our way up. I dont know if that was right thing to do but we were able to get to the coho.

Red Pt Defiance spoons and pearl wobblers dod just as well as the newer stuff.

Just finished 3 days of fishing in Valdez, amazing time. The pinks kept getting in the way of the kings and coho, kept throwing them all back  :chuckle:

I throw a lot of them back; the limit is only 2 after all, and I only need so many.

But a couple more for the smoker.  I'll try off the beach tomorrow.
