Crabbing around Poulsbo, or West Side of Bainbridge?
« on: August 07, 2023, 07:48:59 AM »
Are there any crabs that make their way to Liberty Bay? Or is Port Madison Bay the closest they get? Maybe the Navy chases them away?

I'm stuck for a few days in that general area with the small boat so I'm looking for any opportunities.

I need just one more hunt and I'll be satisfied ... Really! Just one more...

I have been told by other boaters that they have had luck with both rock and dungeness crab in liberty bay. That being said I have never tried there myself.

We use to get Dungies of Illahee State Park Dock back in the late 80s. It was good for a couple dungies a day while fishing for Black mouth.
Until certain ethnic groups come in and wiped all the crabs (Dungies, Red Rock, etc.) almost over night by keeping everything that came up with their traps, along with most edible fish and mollusks. Saw the same thing happen at Port Orchard, Manchester, and Annapolis. They became dead of fish.
I have not fished there in 30 years, so I do not have any current information.

He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
