Post in this thread team updates, or if you are looking for a team. Anyone not on a team by the beginning of the season will be assigned to a team needing 5 members by me.
Rules and Scoring (to be updated prior to October 1st - so more input appreciated)
Rules:
1) 5 members per team - guest/kids can count towards your total as long as they aren't regular members of your hunting party
2) Photo points will not count toward the contest
3) No roadkill
4) Honor system applies
5) Photo of kill with at least one team member needs to be submitted for points to be awarded.
*Here is what I had in mind for a "guest hunter" Sometimes you take a newbie out, sometimes a relative rolls into town and you take them out. If you kill an animal on these hunts then it can count toward your total as long as someone from the team was there. A guest hunter can't go out by themselves one time, kill ten coyotes, and have that total counted to someone's team. (For rule clarification: A guest hunter can only count toward your total for one hunt, and must be accompanied by a team member.)
6) You can add someone to your team after the 1st, but any coyotes they shoot prior to be putting on your team do not count.
7) No hand gestures needed for photos. This is a "fun" contest. No money or big prizes involved, so I would hope our members keep it on the up and up. Don't drag frozen coyotes around to different locations and take pictures. For the heaviest and smallest coyote, you will need to show a picture of the scale. For the most animals taken in a 12 hour period, you will need to take a group shot (both ears of the animal are acceptable). For the most animals award I will be counting all animals, regardless of type as 1 (ie, 4 bobcats, 3 coyotes = 7). This is not the calculation for your point total, just that part of the contest that applies to animals.
Scoring:
1) West Side Coyote - 3
2) East side Coyote - 1
3) Bobcats - 4
4) Foxes - 2
5) Misc. called animals (ie: badgers, cougars, wolves - Idaho) will be awarded points by a random drawing of 10, 20, or 30 points that are selected out of a hat.
6) Multipliers: Muzzleloader - points x 1.5, Compound Bow - points x 3, Traditional Bow - points x 5, Out-of state animals - points x .5
Prizes:
1) Winning Team - probably just bragging rights
2) Heavy Coyote (must be weighed on a scale, it can be your own fish scale, just no estimates)- tbd
3) Smallest Coyote - tbd
4) Heaviest Bobcat - tbd
5) Most animals (not points) killed in a 12 hour period (a daytime or nighttime outing)[/b]

you get a certaint amount of points for different things, like 5 or 10 points for coyote taken by bow, 2 points for coyote tookin by rifle, and 1 point for a picture of a coyote... something liek that, i cant remember the EXACT rules, but normally they post them when it starts getting closer...

People lose interest if it goes too long. September or October is a great time. Are we doing a moderator team again or do you guys want to branch out. Wihtout a broken hand this year I feel I will be contributing a bit more to the carnage.

Basically I set the dates for when the fur is nice. However, feel free to blast away to your hearts delight and post pictures in the forum. Contest rules will pretty much be the same. The only thing that might change are the amount of points awarded, and we may limit the number of folks per team. I am also thinking a coyote west of the cascades will be worth 3x what an east side coyote is worth. Let me know if you have any good ideas on the contest.
An award for the heaviest coyote, most coyotes in a single day or night, smallest coyote will also be added. I will come up with some prizes.

I'll post the rules towards the end of August, before I get busy with archery deer.
