After 5 years of teaching myself how to hunt, it finally came together for me. I shot him at about 10 yards, and got the shot on video via my trail camera. I am looking forward to trying venison for the first time.

Good work dude! The flood gates will open from there!

Thanks you guys!

Way to go. I'm self taught also. Learned later in life with help from this message board. I remember the great feeling of accomplishment i felt when i got my first deer.

Yes, it really was a great feeling. Without this forum it would’ve taken a lot longer for me to get a deer.

Thanks! I saw him a couple times in preseason scouting and kind of wrote him off as a super fork, then I saw him again right before dark on Monday night and confirmed at least 1 legal eyeguard. Then the stars lined up and I tagged him Tues morning!

Thanks! No other field angles, but here's a front view and a close up of his bases.
