My buddy is on the fire department in Cour d Alene and he is an avid hunter, he moved from WA and has said every year since he moved to ID he has seen less and less deer. He gets his elk every year but struggles for a mature WT, but he did shoot a dandy of a Mule deer last year. Where he hunts there isn't as many Ag fields and I think that makes a big difference also, the animals are not as densely populated as they are in certain parts of our state. Last year he actually came back to WA and hunted WT in the rut with his family out in the Elk area.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Winter of 2007/2008 had a 75% winter kill in the panhandle. I haven't heard how this last winter was on them. Couldn't have ben that great with the spring snows that they had. I grew up over there and have hunted it a lot, but I won't go back until they have had a couple years to rebound provided the winters aren't worse.

I've been hunting the Clearwater N.F. for 10 years. I've seen a increase in the number of wolves and a decrease ithe the number of deer every year. Last year was so bad I'm still trying to decide if I'll go back or not. The winter kill was real bad the winter before last.
