I’d say pre-rut has begun. Lots of wandering, day time activity, but sniffing. If it hasn’t someone should have given this guy the memo.

They are sniffing, rubbing trees, and already getting stinky.  I'd say it's starting a bit earlier than normal for our weather we've had here on the wet side.

Zip, Nada, Nothing .... going on yet in my neck of the woods.
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

On 21 June, 2025 the US bombed three Iranian nuclear sites and, according to the President the Iranian nuclear capability was "obliterated". Now it appears the the US is again preparing military strikes on Iran if they won't agree to abandon their nuclear program that is/was reportedly in ruins?????
Who knew that Obama winning an Nobel Peace Prize would lead to this?

I saw more bucks than ever walking around and standing with does in daylight just before rifle season. Since then nothing at all. They showed up on cams frequently during that time too.

Nice four-point tonite being stoopid and chasing doe around. Rut is on in South King Co.

They seem to be starting to get more active in my neighborhood. Saw 2 bucks in the last two days that I haven’t seen before. One is a pretty nice 3x3.

Does a button buck humping a quad mean anything?

Came across a dandy 3 point this morning stuck in a fence up the road from my place. Pretty sure he's one of the progeny of the monster black tail I've had chasing does every few years in my field. He had a broken two point tine jammed up in his rack as well as a bunch of horse fencing. I managed to cut him loose from the fence and not get gored but boy he was pissed. He still had about 15' of it trailing behind him though that I couldn't get to before he took off. I hope he manages to keep from getting all tangled up in something else.

Seems the same every year. All the town and yard bucks are rutting through the season. But the true woods bucks only come out when season is ending.  :chuckle:
