230 grain smack down, 75g powder
« on: November 11, 2023, 09:08:28 PM »
Wondering if anybody has shot a 230g smackdown .50 cal sabot (.45 bullet) with a 75g powder charge out of a 28” barrel traditions deer-hunter

Might dial it down to a 60g charge but not sure, it’s been 10+ years since I’ve dialed a muzzy in for deer

That does seem like a small powder charge.

My muzzleloader hunting loads are 100 or 120 grains.

I hunted with 110gr charge as a little kid with a lightweight gun that kicked so much more then my current knight bighorn and it was fine but I would recommend more like 90-100. I shoot 120gr charge these days with 290gr bullet.
