Talley Rings on CA Ridgeline?
« on: December 06, 2023, 07:32:24 PM »
Hey folks, I just got a CA Ridgeline and plan to move my VX-5HD from a different rifle onto this one. I'm going to get Talley rings for it, but I can't decide if I should go low or medium... the scope is the 3-15x44. Had medium Leupold Backcountry rings on the gun it's coming off of, but can some wise guy on here tell me if I could swing the lows on the new pole?

Thanks!

I have that exact scope but with the CA Mesa with the Talley Low’s, if that helps.  Works great.

I bought lows and meds... I'll just return the lows if they don't work! Thanks for the encouragement LOL

Is it a carbon barrel? If so it'll be the mediums most likely.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Talley lightweights are .400 front height for the CA, according to Leupold your scope has .460 protrusion from the tube to the bell. You could put a straight edge across the front of the receiver and measure down to see how much clearance you have, I personally don't like mounting my scopes too low and tight anymore

Mounting scopes is simply just not my game haha. Thanks for the info. Don't you want to get the scope nice and low unless you have a high cheek weld?

Like I previously said, I got both mediums and lows. Looks like the lows will work, but, I need to grab some ammo and see if the brass is going to be hitting my windage turret... if it does I'll be inclined to step up to mediums. But for now, the lows are perfect without a check rest.
