last modern day hunt success? or not?
« on: November 19, 2007, 09:03:11 PM »
I checked my little girl out of school at noon so we could squeeze in a last day hunt and although we didn't connect I feel like our season was a success since I got to spend a LOT of quality time with my girl this year teaching her about this & that. Not always related to hunting & learning from her as well, seeing things through a child's eyes caused me to open mine.
We did see a doe and she lined up on her and took a shot but missed and after the deer walked off I asked "how did you miss that deer?" she replied that she had "mechanical malfunctions" I asked, "what does that mean?" she replies, "my fingers are frozen!" she had a blast anyway and made it all the more fun for me.

That's great.  It's good to see parents taking passing along the hunting tradition and knowledge.  I took my 5 year old out this year.  I dressed him in camo and we sat in the blind making deer calls and coyote calls for a few hours.  I was surprised how long he wanted to stay out.  He had a blast even though he only got to see the tracks.  Both my 4 yo and my 5 yo love the tracks and the story they tell.  The next morning we did it again and I called in a coyote but he had fallen asleep curled up in my jacket.
