Ouch!
« on: March 10, 2024, 12:12:03 PM »
“As it sits now we are one of the crappiest states to hunt. Look in any hunting magazine that talks about the Pacific Northwest they bring up Montana Idaho Oregon in Northern California but you very seldom see anything to do with the state of Washington. Occasionally you may see something about duck hunting around potholes but that's about it”

From second reply and doesn’t have much to say about waterfowl hunting either!🤣

I don't mind people sleeping on WA as a waterfowl location, more birds and spots for the rest of us.

People pay around 400 bucks a day plus tip to hunt fowl on private mostly leased.  I only wish this state was a sleeper for ducks and geese so we could have a chance to hunt some land we can’t even sniff today.

The public hunting land here in SW WA is overcrowded. Unless you have a boat or a lease, you're out there wrestling for a spot that two hours later will be surrounded by "hunters" within shotgun range.

Not all public land is overcrowded. Still plenty of room. My primary area could use a few extra groups- if I could tell em where to set up!

I gave up on Vancouver Lake and Shillapoo 6 or 8 years ago. People have little respect for those who got there before them and the sky busting is merciless.

Then get a boat? You can pick up a minn-koda trolling motor, lithium battery, small kayak big enough to transport a dozen decoys, and a motor mount for under $1k and suddenly have thousands of acres of public ground opened up.

Hunt cheap, easily, or successfully. Pick 2.
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

I could maybe get a kayak. I've thought about it. I also gave away all my duck decoys to someone here on the forum some time ago. I only have goose shells and silhouettes. And, our cats won't retrieve.

Not with that attitude they wont! Sounds like a fun spring training project.

I recall someone on the forum a while ago talking about training their cat to retrieve.  Anyone hear if he was actually successful? Would love to see a video.

My former hunting partner who betrayed even sold his boat shortly after meeting him.  Never messed with a boat because those ramps become a mess and when they ice up people get stuck and you’re blocked.

My brother told me he went to get the friends truck and while backing up the trailer noticed his friend was swimming ashore!  A rogue wave on the river capsized him only minutes after my brother left.
