my thoughts are that powder capacity in a non issue when dealing with a short barrel. it won't burn it all anyway. I'm no expert and would like to see if i'm right or not.

You will lose case capacity when you have to push it way back in to fit the magazine or not crowd the landings.

I'm about 1 1/2 miles from there. Problem is I don't have a 300 mag. I hope I didn't imply that I did. But my brother does and I used to load for him before he got his own equipment. I would be curious to see how fast a 200 grain bullet could be pushed. I know my brother plans on trying them sometime. He wants to use 200 grain Accubonds on antelope.

Nosler book has them at 2970fps  
Hogdon data has it going 2962fps

You might see 3000 fps if you're lucky in a 24" barrel.

You will have a little more recoil with a full case and a larger bullet.

For the 180's

Hogdon has it at 3042 fps (not much more than the 200's)  Probably not enough to equal out the higher bc.

I would look at the 165's and 168's a little harder. Especially on antelope.

im gunna keep playing with the 200 grain bullet for a while. like i said ive got a great load in 168 that i will hunt anything im going after this year with. the trouble any more with experimenting with loads is trying to get different components, that's why i was asking for good powders you guys may have found for the heavier bullet because its not like the good ole days when you could hit the store and have your pick. good info guys keep it coming

If you want I will mail some bullets to you. Shoot them and see what they do. I would like to see how they shoot. I know my gun likes them. If you live close enough we could meet and I will give them to you and some H4831sc to try as well.

I am hoping to hook up with a buddy and shoot my bow @ the Tacoma Sportsmans Club next week after work one night. will that work?

all I shoot out of my 300 win mag is 180grn Silver tips and using the data from Nosler  imr4350 and 70 grains powder, I have been happy with the results.

you have to be accompanied by a member and it costs like 7-10 bucks.  I think.
