I've been wearing Patagonias for close to 20+ years because of a guide friend also.
Honestly, right after an Omak Lake trip this spring where I got soaked each day, I decided to get the rubbing alcohol and a tube of E-6000 out and go to work patching up holes, tears and a few separations on my old Patagonias. I just can't seem to pull the trigger on waders. I just retired a couple years ago and want to buy one more pair to last me a while. The Grundens looked interesting and seemed to be made from good material. I already have the new pair of Danner/Patagonia Tractor wading boots because my 30 plus year old pair of Danner wading boots which are still in great shape are felt w/spikes so not legal in a lot of places. The new Danner/Patagonia Tractor boots Rock! They're comfortable, great support and don't slip in the rocks. I'm a big believer in the the old adage, "you get what you pay for." I don't mind spending the money if I know what I'm paying for is going to last me awhile.
Let me know what you think of the Vectors after you've worn them a time or two. It was going be the Boundary Zip or the Vectors that I would go with. I don't know if I'm sold on the whole "no leak zipper" concept. Haven't seen or talked to anyone with a pair so not sure I wouldn't go with the Vectors for that reason. Good luck, I'll be waiting to hear what you think.
