So i posted one thread here that i lost one of my girls last year to cancer. i couldn't bring myself to even type in that i lost a second girl 6 weeks later to a virus. they were both 13 and hands down the best pair of pointers i have had to date. I was absolutely gutted. down to 1 pointer who was 8 and neice to one of those lost, i can tell she is as lonely as i was without her buddies.

Well, a year later, my wife and i are healed and have just put deposit down on a Large Munsterlander from Cali. i get to retrieve her on 19 June and we are excited to start our next journey. i will introduce Aspen.

Sweet!

I can attest to not feeling right about getting a new dog soon after a beloved dog has died. When my previous rescue dog got ran over and killed, my wife and i had no intention of replacing him but then a year later when i went to do a nature walk in a spot that he(the dog) and i frequented and enjoyed, a dumped dog was at the trailhead. With no collar, an injured front paw and being out in the middle of nowhere with no one else around. A year later and she has been a great dog to us.

Kinda felt like God had arranged for me to find her to be honest.

Congratulations!  It does take a while before the time is right.

Bless you and your new pup.

I have a 6 year old male GSP who is now super chill. As you said, the best pointing dog ever.

2 and half years ago my wife decide she wanted a dog, she wanted a female GSP, but not to hunt. Now I am telling you I must have forgotten what a pain in the butt my pup was because her dog really take the cake. Ist off, this dog thinks she is my dog. She is the sweetest little pain in the ass ever! I can't do anything without her right in my back pocket ALL THE TIME.  I have to chain her out when I want to shoot my bow. 1,200 when she got hung up on a barbed wire fence, and other 1,000 something when she rolled down the back window of my PU while I was coming out of a traffic circle and she bailed out. Oh, she does not believe in gravity. She takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Never had to reinforce gates, gate off parts of the house, or rebuild the back porch door for my dog.

I wonder what my dog was thinking (while he was laying on the back seat of the truck) when she bailed out the window?

sorry, I got off track
There are only so many sunrises left.

Beautiful pup.  I know how excruciating that wait for a new pup is.......then once you get it......the pooping/peeing/chewing sets in. LOL

I was just telling my wife today, that no matter how mad we our with the pup at times (chewed 2 holes in middle of new carpet, several side tables, and a few other things) I would trade it all as long as she's (pup) happy and healthy.     PS, the wife too.  :chuckle:
