Congrats on the tag! Hunting moose in your home state is a pretty special experience. Enjoy it with good friends and family!

With it being the early tag, start watching videos and learn how to call if you don't know how. It is VERY effective in the first part of October. Have a great time scouting and everything else that goes along with having a OIL tag in your pocket.

Congrats on the OIL moose tag! That is an awesome unit!
It was 2008 when the wife drew her tag. We hunted south of Loon lake for 3 days trying to catch up to a bull we found the day before the hunt started. She passed up 16 bulls before we found her bull on day 3.

They send oils out as soon as you pay for them.

Welcome to the forum. Might be better off getting hits it you start a thread with the title of the tag your looking for info for. There is also a search bar up in the right hand corner you could type in what you’re searching for and it will bring up old threads. Will probably be more reading than you want to do lol, I’ve been reading through huckleberry threads and am going on two weeks and haven’t ran out of stuff to read.

Made a quick trip into the unit today, not planning on seeing animals but a road recon mission. Left the house at o’dark thirty with the plan of making my first point of interest right at first light. That’s when I realized my phone didn’t charge while I was asleep so pull over and dig through the pickup looking for a charger cord, oh good there’s one in the center console. Plug my phone in and to my surprise the cord actually worked, ok back in the captains seat and nose headed north. Start my climb up the hill and figured I had better start paying attention to the map and roads only to realize my phone is at one percent. Pull over again to fiddle with the cord, plug and phone to get it to start charging. Well as you can see this post has no pictures so getting it to charge failed. First though was trip was ruined as I lost access to my onX and my points of interest, but doing all the e-scouting and talking with people about points I managed to pull off a successful three hour scout trip. Saw 11 moose and learned a great deal about the lay of the land and what it gonna take time wise moving around to different spots. Not going to promise any pics for trip two cause I think I’m going to dive into a whole different area, waiting to get roads and lay of the land learned in the hot weather so when scouting needs to really start I can move efficiently as possible. Thanks to the people that have helped out so far this trip would have been a complete disaster without it.
