GMU 139 Whitetail Doe Archery Tag
« on: June 12, 2024, 07:44:54 PM »
Hello! I drew a 2nd deer tag for antlerless whitetail in GMU 139. Any advice on how to find whitetail? I hunted 142 last year and it was all Muley’s.

If you know a good spot for a simple doe hunt, that’s appreciated as well.

Are they still issuing doe tags in 139?  We literally lost 80% plus of our whitetail in 2021.

This will be my 33rd season in 139.  We never have had this few whitetail…ever…not even close…we should definitely not be killing does.  Not your fault, but honestly.   This state…

You might have a hard time finding a place to shoot a doe.  All the friends and relatives would say no.

Interesting. I’ll have to talk with some of our friends at WDFW. Not sure if they are targeting something specifically, or if they just consider the 5 archery tags they issue per year to be negligible. If it’s anything like where I hunt in 138, you just don’t see whitetail. I thought that changed as you went north?

JJhunter is right, the herd is struggling from the die off the other year. Places I used to hunt and be slam dunk are void of even deer tracks. That’s why wdfw at least did away with the general doe hunts for archery and muzzleloader

Interesting. Well, sounds like I donated some $ for a tag I can’t use. Was hoping there was a good population somewhere in the GMU. Ah well..
