Okanogan berries
« on: July 23, 2024, 12:03:46 PM »
Hey folks-
Any berry pickers out there?
When is a basic time to start picking wild blueberries/huckleberries up in the Okanogan forest?
Do they tend to ripen earlier at lower elevations? What time would that be? Mid August? Late August?
We are going to try a few spots around Bonaparte Lake in early September.
Thanks!

Ps. And I will be carrying my Ruger Model 44/77 .44 Mag! 👍🏻

For sure and to note, I've lived here my whole life and never seen a worse berry crop. Even in what was considered a bad year, I'd still find plenty. Definitely not the case this year. However, I did find one very small spot that has more hucks per square yd that I've ever seen here. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Ya... being 100* for the last 2+ weeks at my place has destroyed the crop... will be going this weekend up high to see what is going on.
