EDC knife –
« on: November 22, 2024, 02:55:14 PM »
Any suggestions for a good folding knife?  I’m looking for one for my daughter so, #1 criteria, it has to be pretty.

Quality materials, smooth operation, edge retention, strength, etc. would be good too.

Budget – I’d like to keep it under $200 – better be a good knife for that price though.

Been considering these:
Boker Urban Trapper in Cocobolo
Boker LRF in Cocobolo
CIVIVI Elementum II in polished Ultem
CIVIVI Mini Praxis in polished Ultem

I’m leaning toward the polished Ultem scales, I think she will like the translucent amber look.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

Benchmade Mini bugout. Light and thin.

I edc a full-size bug out because I can barely tell it’s there. I choose it’s over several other benchmades

Looks like they have new purple one.

$200 dollars for a knife I will loose makes me want to vomit...... :chuckle: :chuckle:

Everyday carry for most ends up being a box opener / utility knife.  Are you looking for that or for self defense??  If self defense, then buy the best and don't use it to open boxes.

I personally like personalized gifts so I would be looking at something like this.

https://www.buckknives.com/product/341-vantage-avid-small-knife/?sku=0341RWS-B  (Small)

https://www.buckknives.com/product/346-vantage-avid-large-knife/?sku=0346RWS-B   (larger version)

https://www.buckknives.com/product/841-sprint-pro-knife/?sku=0841TNS-B   (Tan Canvas is my favorite color.....More expensive).

I would get these engraved as a gift.

Yea
I was thinking $ the same
Not giving my kid a 200 dollar knife
I’ve had my gerber for 25 years and it still works great and stays sharp and I paid less than 50 bucks for it

I’ve been carrying the large version of the buck 346 vantage for years!  I even liked it so much I bought an identical one when my old one got too busted up.  I’m with some others on this one, I REALLY want a $200+ knife but I can’t bring myself to do it.  The bucks are great and relatively inexpensive.

I carry a Benchmade Griptilian with a sheep’s foot blade.  It makes a great utilitarian blade.  Somehow I have managed to keep it for over ten years.  No idea what steel they are made from now as mine is 154cm.  Lots of guys don’t like the scales but I don’t mind and they have held up.  Just a suggestion.  Sportco carries them.  Probably up to $130 by now I would imagine.

The mini Griptilian in the blue was going to be my suggestion since I love my full size but apparently they’re discontinued  :o

:yeah:
SV30 steel is super sharp and easy to touch up. As stated earlier, so lightweight you barely notice it.

Civivi is making some beautiful knives. You can get this one with gold, silver or copper infused carbon and a sweet blade.

Under $90
