Elk and moose together?
« on: December 29, 2024, 09:45:11 PM »
Can anyone tell me where in WA where larger concentrations of elk cohabitate with Moose as well? Not for hunting purposes.. I’m trying to work on a photography project and live on the westside. Frequent long drives just aren’t in the cards so fewer trips in higher likely areas would really help me out. Not looking for peoples “spots” just general areas.. I’m super happy to take it from there. Thanks kindly.

Good luck, the areas elk hang with moose are coveted areas for elk hunting.

This sounds a lot like the foreign actors that come on a military forum I’m on asking questions that are obviously trying to get classified information out of it members, they are always escorted to the door.😉

Good luck.

unfortunately areas with moose in WA is also the most tightly lipped elk hunting in WA. I know of area near spokane that is open to the public that has quite a few moose and elk are in the area often. I dunno what your looking for exactly tho

It's going to be a lot of time & many miles behind the wheel. Go the Cheney ( Turnbull ) and on your way there, or your return, visit Vantage

If I wanted to see moose and elk in the same area in Washington, Turnbull would be high on my list of places.
Plus you can see a bunch of deer and turkeys.....   and who knows what else.

Does it have to be in Washington? If it was me I’d look at idaho. If it has to be Washington I’d do like some have said go to the northeast for moose and hit elk in route there i.e. packwood or vantage.

The areas of public land, south of the highway from Tonasket to Republic is where I'd be going for Moose. I've also seen numerous Moose on the Lyman Lake/Moses Mountan road which goes from Highway 155 to Aeneas Valley. You may get lucky and see a few Elk also. I've never seen them in that area but have been told by friends, they're there. Good luck, post the pics!
