Several years ago I was fortunate enough to spend the day on one of our largest subs, boomer class SSBN Alaska. Driving through the base I noticed blacktail everywhere, I mean a lot. The navy officer I was with said the area is open for hunting but you have to get a permit, I would assume it would be from the navy not fish and wildlife. I'm just curious if anyone on here has ever hunted it, it would probably be archery only but I really dont know.

I would think that all hunting even the private areas still have to go thru Fish and Game. But then again maybe not

I work on BAngor and as of right know there is no hunting allowed. The base CO and the base  biologist make the call on that.  But its mainly the CO. Two COs ago his wife didn't like hunting so they stopped hunting.

I to have seen lots of deer and some nice bucks on my travels there. Thats a good question if you can hunt there. Several times I have just looked out the window where I was at and seen deer just walk by. Not sure when I will be there again, but will ask the security guards about it.
