Son drawn - Silver Dollar Youth Any Elk - Help?
« on: June 10, 2025, 04:19:48 PM »
This is my son's last year as a youth hunter and he was drawn for the Silver Dollar Youth Any Elk tag. Sounds like we should be receiving information at some point. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Nice! Looking on here it sounds like it can be hit or miss if they contact the hunter. I am hopeful though!

Congrats guy! My 11 year old daughter drew as well! Hopefully this year is good for all of us. Based off research it’s hit or miss. Let’s keep our fingers crossed! 🤞🏽

Wow she's lucky! My son had 7 points and this is his first time drawing youth elk tag (and his last year as a youth). I hope she has a great hunt!

My brother, sister, and I all had this tag 13 years ago the same year. We all filled it and then my dad harvested an archery cow that year. We had meat for a couple years. Great hunt, at least it was 13 years ago.

My dad did a write up about it that had the most epic introduction:

"Dawn broke like the wind after dinner at Santiago's Authentic Mexican Cuisine."

Still gives me the giggles  :chuckle:

LOL, that is a good one! Do you have a link to the write up? My son is very excited and is hoping for a successful hunt!

I'll see if my dad can find it. Looking back my sister actually had the blackrock tag and my brother and I had the silver dollar. We stayed at the hilton in Yakama for 100 bucks a night since it was the off season. One of the nicest elk camps I was ever in.

I think they’ll contact you and the game department sends you a packet for this hunt. They usually call when the elk start coming over into the ranches and then have 1-3 people go out on the same hunt together. They are good tags and usually successful. One of the hunts my buddies kid went on, the first kid missed a big bull and then they had my buddies son shoot a cow. The hunt then ended for the kid that missed the big bull so make sure his gun is dialed in.

We still haven’t received anything by mail.  Is that normal?

Good luck!  It sounds like a fun hunt.  Fires caused my son's youth hunt to be cancelled years ago.  Very disappointing, especially when WDFW wouldn't reinstate my his youth points.
