  I Decided to ride back to camp and get my cart and some other butchering items. When I got back, I got to work. It was crazy how big and heavy everything was. His hide was so thick and tough.  I managed to get all the meat off one side of him. By the time I’d got that done my back pain was back in full force. I was happy and thankful of how long the back lasted though. I got all the game bags of half the moose hanging in trees.  It was now 8:30 pm and had been dark for about 2 hrs. I’m not going to lie and say I never thought about the wolves that were howling that morning and the mystery roar that I heard the night before. LOL I let off a few courtesy shots every now and then while cutting him up. LOL
  That night Jake and Brian pulled into moose camp around 10:30pm. My brother Rowdy arrived at 7am. It felt like the ''over 50yr olds calvary'' had just shown up.  By 7:30 we were on our way back up to get the rest of the moose taken care of and get him packed out.

   When we got back up to the bull, we took some more pics and then got to work.  Brian he just started packing the meat that I had already hung about a mile back down the road past all the culvert dig outs. He ended up hauling half the moose, all himself down to that point where we could easily load it in our carts from there. Rowdy jake and I started cutting up the rest of the moose. We went right to the deepest part of the hind quarter to make sure it smelled right.  What a relief, it smelled great. (what a relief, you never know).  We got him all cut up and into pack frames and game carts.
    I was able to get a few pics with the head on my back, but there was no way I was going to get very far with the old back issues, so my brother Rowdy took the bull down the 4 miles to camp. Jake and Brian had full pack frames and bike carts, and I had a light load in my pack and a full cart.  The ride down was cool.

My son has a rack off his first elk that he hit in the horn with his first shot. Knocked him down! Put a nice hole in the horn.
