Jupiter Mountain Rayonier Permit- 621 Bull Tag
« on: July 01, 2025, 08:14:05 PM »
So I pulled an archery Bull elk tag for GMU 621. I have been doing plenty of research about the surrounding area via e scouting and will be heading out there this weekend. I have only ever backpacked and hiked the area and never up Jupiter. My biggest question at this point is whether to buy the permit or not. I called the region District 15 biologist and he's given me the obvious information about the Dose and Duckabush drainages. However when it came to Jupiter mountain he could not give me any input on whether the Dose herd mingles up there. Haven't been able to get ahold of the private lands biologist just yet. I feel like I have plenty of ground to try and get into them but also don't want to be blocked out of a solid patch of land that they may hold in come September. To spend 400 or not is a big question for me right now.

Any input from the group would be greatly appreciated.

How much is the permit and is it still available for purchase?

 :yeah:

When we drew the muzzy tag a few years ago we wish we had access to that permit area....

Finding elk not on private land was tough in my opinion. I'd start asking private land owners now. We drew it late, so no much time to prepare.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

The head of the Duckabush holds Elk. The last time I was up the Mt Jupiter trail I didnt see any Elk sign. I did see some Deer sign and the most Cougar sign Ive ever seen per mile in my life. Stay low in the drainages IMHO
The mountains are calling and I must go

Thanks for the advice. Found the same thing today even in the lower part of Jupiter. Some sign but not much. Schoolyard elk however.....
