Bass Pro Strikes Again
« on: August 03, 2025, 01:25:12 PM »
Was looking for a lite load for my '06 since my shoulder issues have flared up again.
BP had some Hornaday 125 gr reduced load ammo on sale.
I figured why not, I have a load I worked up years ago using a Sierra bullet that shoot well.
Gotta be careful, some rifles dont do well with lighter weight bullets.
Ordered 2 boxes @39 each which is a good price.
Was all set to go to the range and get it sighted in for the up coming season.
Pulled the scope off and reinstalled the peep sights.
Spent 1/2 hour at the counter and 2 different people could not locate and said were sorry will just refund your money.
Kinda put a damper on my weekend plans.
And of course every body else is out of that ammo.
Oh well , at least I have another rifle to fall back on.

Maybe out of your way depending which store you were at, but Skagit Arms and Coastal in the Burlington/Mt. Vernon are both had the 125 lite loads on the shelf at reasonable prices.

Ever thought about putting a limb saver pad on it and just shoot what you usually shoot?

It is a light weight Graphite/Kevlar stocked Remington 700 with a 16 1/2 " barrel .
Law of physics kicks in.
It is brutal with my preferred 180 Partition loads.
I built it for carrying in the timber.
It had a 2 3/4 power shotgun scope on it till the scope started having issues.

Thanks but thats a ways to go from Tacoma for just a couple of boxes of ammo.
Used to go by there before I retired couple of years ago, hauled lumber out of the lumber mill there a lot.

Thanks  but I usually do ship to store when I can.
Try to save a buck where I can.
By the time you add Hazmat and shipping ammo gets very pricey.

Yep, Ammoseek with the filter set to shipping >8.

Got my last 200 rounds of 108 ELD-M at $1.69/ea off there. Checking some other mainstream retailers…

Midway $2.00/ea
Cabelas $2.25/ea

Think the first two boxes I bought from Sportco to confirm the barrel liked it before ordering bulk were in that price range as well. That’s the only time I buy in store.

Edit: yep, $42.99 at Sportco for $2.15/ea.

Sportco is my go to for ammo usually.
Good selection and decent prices sometimes.

I have never bought ammo on line due to the shipping and hazmat fees.
Will use ship to store if its on sale.
I dont buy large enough quantities to make it cost effective.
I have friends that do but they are buying by the case so shipping is usually waived .
Try to support my local B&M when I can .
