Cougars all over my trail cameras.
« on: August 27, 2025, 08:44:25 PM »
Just figured I’d share some pictures of cougars I’ve gotten on trail camera over the last few months. 8 out of 10 cameras I have up have cougar on them.

And WDFW will tell you there less than 3,000 cats in the state.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Cool pics!!  Hopefully you come across one and get to whack it.

Right!

And I hope so. I have one coming in on a regular cycle it’ll show up multiple times a day for about 2-3 days then disappear again for about 2 weeks then show back up again for 2-3 days multiple times. Definitely going to give it a shot.

I’ve never specifically hunted for cougar so we will see how it goes when season opens.

Personally think wolves are a minor problem compared to the cats. Don't see wolves very often, but see cats regularly (seems always during the off season or when no gun handy). Not only see them a lot, but more often than not they don't seem particularly worried about you seeing them. Most I've seen of late had a couple kittens with em-not a good situation.

This, along with the booming bear population is why the state needs to look deeper into kleptoparasitism. I think that this combination has created an artificial situation which has significantly impacted the western wa blacktail population is certain areas.

Deer numbers down? Other wild and domestic food sources soon follow, they are not going to stop eating, be careful out there.

I just learned about this recently and wish more people knew. Shoot a bear if you get the chance and you might save a few deer a year.

We counted 37 different bear on our trail cams this year so far.   This is in a relatively small geographical area.   This state has a huge predator problem….but WDFW refuses to acknowledge….and fix…the problem.
