Were WDFW Commissioners Lorna Smith and Melanie Rowland working with anti-hunting groups to stack the deck on the Commission? CCW has uncovered a Washington Wildlife First (a Jody Allen-funded organization) spreadsheet focused on WDFW commission candidates and applicants via PDR. This spreadsheet was recovered from former Commissioner Tim Ragen’s email. It was sent in the form of an email from Claire Davis, leader of WW1 and nonprofit law firm Animal and Earth Advocates.

The spreadsheet lists commission candidates’ names, their contact information, their code (see key in photos), where they are from, whether they were eligible, source, etc. The list of candidates at least partially comes from a PDR request to the governor’s office for those who applied. What is jarring is that Lorna Smith, Melanie Rowland, and even Woody Myers are listed as “sources” of information on these candidates. In the columns where email and phone numbers are listed, it is even stated that “Lorna will,” quite possibly meaning Lorna Smith will retrieve these contacts for Washington Wildlife First/Claire.

Altogether, Lorna, Melanie, and Woody (may have not been actively on the commission at this time) were listed as sources nine times on the document, alongside other sources like PDR, Center for Biological Diversity, Wild Fish Conservancy, and other anti-hunting/wild fish organizations/individuals.
It certainly feels like the definition of conflict of interest and collusion for commissioners to be assisting special interest groups in working on a document that tracks candidates so that they can be advocated for or opposed. But what do we know?

Look closely at the spreadsheet and the key provided – see who is opposed, recommended, is a decoy, etc. Another notable piece in the spreadsheet is where Woody Myers is listed as a candidate. The “source” is noted as “Us,” and whether or not he was interviewed was a “yes,” and in key notes, his wife’s name was mentioned in a way that may possibly suggest some sort of relation.

These documents have been sent over to the governor’s office for review and inclusion in the current open investigation. Link to

I'm definitely not a fan boy . Not any friend of me. I know that.
Reason most dislike him,is the predator over ungulate attitude.
These folks don't realize that predators do well ,when ungulates do well first.
Basically bring deer/elk population up, predators will do well in the food chain. They don't get it,not smart enough to get it,falls right in line with the rest that want to end hunting.
His name was on the cougar petition to lower quotas.
He won't support anything that supports deer/elk , but he'll support anything predator.

Phil Anderson got a strongly oppose. They really are trying to stack the deck
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

We may post the full paragraphs of reasoning that they give each candidate. Couldn't do it on this post. But it makes the two look so terrible, which is interesting cause how can they get even worse at this point? This is really gonna piss off the GO, shows that the two can't be trusted at all. Personally, I think we're going to have to wait it out. I don't see them keeping Melanie and Lorna at all, especially with the people in Ferguson's office. A lot of the crap they've pushed and the culture on the commission from them is starting to be reversed but there's a long way to go. I'm just mad that they've wasted so much time on species and topics of least concern, wasting people's time and money. There are legit, more important and pressing issues to focus on. I think we will start seeing that priority from Chair Anderson. Staff and commissioners are so done with those 2 and fed up.
