My First Pheasants
« on: November 26, 2007, 04:01:20 PM »
Well I'm a teenager from eastern washington that has been wanting to go pheasent hunting for as long as i can remember.  This year i finally got my first shotgun a Remington 870.  I was also surprised for my dog that i got a year ago from the pound because my other dog passed away :'(.  But the dog i got was a german short hair about 2 years old.  This year i was determined to go hunting so i got pheseant wings and started to train my dog about a month ago.  And where i live there is a sporting clay ranch not far so i have been shooting alot. Any way on Friday i went to the Sherwood Forest over on the west side near Bremerton, since i was visiting my grandparents.  While there i walked with my dog for a while and nothing i almost thought that he has forgotten his job, when out of the blue he found a hen and I shot her clean. My dog found her and walked around all happy. ANd the next day went back and shot my limit.

I have pictures, just no tloaded on teh computer.  But Otherwise i was pretty lucky to have found him.  I visited in the pound a couple of times before i adopted him and thought he was teh right dog for me.  I had no idea that he was a bird hunting dog until i started to do some reading about the breed.  But he is black and white, and really muskular.  But his problem is that he has a shorter body so finding him a chest gard is somewhat hard.
