I heard from a guy who used to hunt them in Scandinavia that sometimes you shoot them and they stiffen their legs and just stand there locked out.

Curious, what caliber of rifle did you shoot him with? Thanks!

.270 with 150gr ammo. All I know is I was SUPER happy to anchor him on the road. Talk about a blessing

What a specimen!  Congrats on the draw, hunt, and success!  Couldn't of drawn it up better getting him down on the road, certainly bet that was a relief 😅

A part of the story I forgot to add and just remembered was the first night at camp, 92 was just getting his tent and things settled in while I was over at my tent and we heard some sticks breaking not far from us. At first I thought it was him doing something behind his tent but then I asked him if he heard that and he replied "Ya I think its some deer". It sounded too big to be deer to me so my next thought was bear until he let me know it was moose. I saw him scramble over between his tent and my utility trailer and as he did, I saw the dark shadows of a moose about 20 feet from him. I never got a good look at them and he only was able to see the first one very well but we are thinking it was a bull following a cow. Good thing we were outside our tents and he was chasing her right toward my tent and I wouldn't be surprised if they wouldn't have crashed right through our camp. Pretty dang cool.
