2024 Ford Edge Opinion/Bought a Chevrolet
« on: October 30, 2025, 05:06:35 PM »
Looking at a 2024 Ford Edge SEL, AWD. What do you think about the 2.0 engine with the 8 speed transmission? Any major flaws with the powertrain? Also considering a 2017 Ford Taurus, AWD, 3.5 engine with 6 speed transmission. Any major pros or cons to these powertrains? Is the internal water pump a big issue with the 3.5?

Make sure it wasnt a rental fleet car

Well.. it’s a FORD, so there’s that
It’s newish maybe the bugs are worked out (not likely)
Maybe it’s new enough to get useful miles out of it if taken care of
I’m no exprert but I’d buy a Toyota, Honda or Subaru, before that
If my daily life depended on it
One shot. One kill!

Wife and I bought a 2015 edge new with the 2.0---- It has been great, overall. 1 minor sensor replaced, and one rear wheel bearing recently needed replaced. Currently at 108k miles.... 26 mpg on the freeway.....

Well, after all that, we ended up getting a 2024 Chevy Equinox. We drove quite a few cars, and the equinox seems to fit us the best and we knew it pretty early in he test drive. I have no clue about the 1.5 engine and tranny, so we got an extra warranty to go with what was left from GM. Thanks for the replies.

The 2024 Equinox has been doing great for us. We took it to Westport/South Bend for a weekend trip due to HS football playoffs. We have taken it to Lewiston & Wenatchee for a hockey weekends, and other trips, and it has been excellent. Plenty of power, and 30 mpg. The ride is great, and the interior is great. We drove straight through to Westport and we drove straight home from South Bend. No pee breaks. 4.5-5 hour rides. Very comfortable. Glad we got the Chevrolet.
