Wondering what any west side guys know about Wolves in the Olympics? I live in Belfair on the Hood Canal. I run a lot of cams. I say that because I am curious what others have seen on vid.  Thanks Mike

I had a Rayonier lease west of Forks, north of the park, for a year with a large members group and not one of them that I met ever mentioned anything about wolf... Never saw any sign to support that either while running 3 cams for 6 months... I did see some of the biggest Roosevelt bulls in my life though!
I love you... I really do...

Never heard or seen a thing in 20 years of early archery elk hunting anywhere from Wynochee to Sol Duc and all along the west slope to the water.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

Its just a matter of time for the wolves to swim across the Puget sound and establish themselves with collars on and ear tags.

Are they there now?  Unlikely.

Were wolves ever there?  Yes.

Is there a food source for them?  Yes.

Do people want them there?  Some do.

All due respects, the wolves that live in WA now never existed in the Olympics. The current breed of Canadian Grey Wolf are about 20%+ larger than the likely-extinct wolves that used to live here. If any of the indigenous breed had survived beyond 1996, their larger Canadian cousin probably killed the remaining ones since introduction. Thse who support the introduction of the Canadian breed wither knowingly or ignorantly support wildlife engineering, not conservation, much like the morons who introduced the mountain goats back in the 1920s. We know how that turned out.

It's past time to manage existing packs, not create new ones. Unfortunately though, I doubt we'll ever see management regardless of their numbers, distribution, or effect on other wildlife populations or human interests. Wolves are being used as a tool by disingenuous people and groups.

My guess at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see them anywhere in Washington state, except downtown Olympia which actually might be a good place to release a couple.

Sounds a lot like someone else I know (And myself) These a wolf, is a wolf, is a wolf morons that brought this on us through the greentard crowd  along with the Hound hunting/Baiting bans of the same era. Public comment is our enemy because the commie never sleeps!
Anyone out there seen a Native wolf in the wild Pre introduction? I did in the 4 corners/ Swift Creek area of the Colockum in 1989. Quite the surprise as it was hiding in a tree well and let me within about 7 feet before bolting about 150 yards from our camp. Kind of curious if his downline still exists.

Probably about 1982, a den of them in the Sawtooth, a male and female and cub.  Seen them two weekends in a row.  I'd swear they were smaller than what I am seeing now.  Back then it was an amazing thing to see.

and then again around 88/89 but the wolf politics were already starting.  They shut coyote hunting down in Alta and they knew there was a pack in Libby.  I dont remember timelines anymore, but it was a decade or more before they acknowledged the Alta pack, the first official wolf pack in Washington, which is a joke.
