Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, I'd rather have bison than beef, but..........

This seems it may be a bit more fair chase, but I dunno.

Folks drop this kinda coin for for a variety of big game.

Good point, I have heard bison is overall better meat than beef. I guess my concern was toughness. I would like a variety of cuts. That would be alot of ground bison if it was tough.

And you are right, people do pay a boat load to say they went hunting these days.

Mature bulls have always cost significantly more than yearlings though

YA.  A mature bull would be a "trophy", while say a <2 yr bull or 5 yr cow would be a better meat prospect.  Up to each to find their sweet spot.

Bison is supposedly better for you clinically with higher protein and less fat.  There's no wagyu bison haha.  I haven't had much, but I've had burger and a few steaks.  I do like it, but generally not at the premium it sells for.

Last I checked a guided elk hunt is in this price realm.

So here's a price list from the site owner.  They are advertising a mature bull. I think that's a bull over 4 years old.

Just what do you think would be a fair price to shoot a mature bull?

How much do you suppose yours ended up setting ya back?

Now my Kids and Grandkid are playing. Grandkid took 3rd (consolation)place this year.

This would be a very easy hunt. The buffalo are corralled up all winter and let free roam on one of the nations wildlife areas durning the summer months and early fall. My assumption is this hunt will take place late September early October before bird season starts and they are corralled back up. None the less it’s a guaranteed hunt for a freezer full of meat.

One hunt is march 11&12 the other is march 14&15.  Each comes with a two night stay at the casino hotel. Both hunts are for a 6 plus year old bull and include field dressing and skinning.

My uneducated guess is that these are 2 different bulls that have been selected to be culled from the breeding herd. My guess is that you will accompanied by a member of the tribe to make sure they are the correct target. There will also be a backup gun to make sure that if you don't put the animal down. "They" will.
