Why the weird price denominations? $2,318.26? $612.18? What is that all about?

Ya it’s getting pretty bad, can’t remember what it’s going to get to but I thought they have it working up towards the 2028 prices.

It's likely they got authorization for a specific % increase and that's how it penned out.

Utah announced last year that prices would double this year.  It's why I went all-in on all my Utah apps last year to try to burn up my points.  Was my last year applying in Utah.  The pricing will just keep going up at this point.

A little outrageous...

A little ?
Every state is just continuing to push prices out of the grasp of regular low and middle class families

Might wanna do a little research on Don Peay, founder of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife.  In addition to sponsoring the annual Western Hunting Expo in SLC, they are actually very politically active. Especially in Utah.  If you research his history you'll start to see why some of the western states are creating more limited units and charging more for basic hunting licenses.  They raise a ton of money and contribute generously to people who see things their way. Come to your own conclusions about what's driving these costs

I have quite a few points for Utah but I refuse to pay the prices they want. Not because I can’t afford it but at some point you gotta say enough is enough. Oh well easy come easy go.

Simply a supply verse demand issue. If I was a resident of Utah, I would want and expect my out of state tags sell for the absolute highest price possible.  When we sell our car, we all want top dollar for it. Simple business situation. Everyone tries to make something more out of it but that is what it is. Just business.

Sad, but you are correct.  Some influential people see hunting as just a business. It irritates them to no end that a hunter can go out and get  a elk or deer for the comparatively cheap price of a license.  They're doing their best to convince state authorities that these animals are just an asset and should be sold as such to the highest bidder. Of course they've figured a way to get a piece of that action. Sponsor big events  where prime hunts donated in the name of conservation can be raffled or auctioned off and, of course, siphon off literally millions of dollars in service charges and expenses. Do a few conservation programs to paint a better portrait, but of course do it in areas areas that benefit the high end auction units you know you'll be putting up at the next show.  Guess I'll stop my rant, maybe you're ok with hunting turning into a for profit , big business. Won't really effect me much either way in my old age.
