Memorial Day
« on: May 21, 2026, 04:08:42 PM »
I hope everyone gets a refresh this long weekend. Remember that Memorial Day is for a remembrance of our servicemen and women who've fallen in combat. Happy Memorial Day may not be well-received by combat veterans this weekend. It's not Veteran's Day. You don't need to thank them for their service. But if you see a vet on Memorial Day, Never Forget is a more appropriate salutation. So please take a moment on Monday, have a thought or prayer or whatever, for those brave souls, like Capt. Aaron Blanchard, who gave everything for US. They've more than earned it.

Thanks for the reminder. I was just told it was a double weekend for me, my birthday and Memorial Day. Uh it’s my birthday but Veterans Day and Memorial Day are not the same.

God bless those that made the ultimate price for freedom.

We're visiting my younger daughter and husband in Parker, Colorado.

Every front yard got a flag.

It's really beautiful.

Memorial Day definitely has a different meaning after witnessing the sacrifices. My best friend was killed in an ambush less than 6 miles from where Captain Blanchard lost his life. It was May 31,2011 in Afghanistan, and it was May 30,2011 back home which happened to be Memorial Day.

For me I'll be thinking of the friends etched into the wall.
