I just need to figure out a motion sensor and a recording device on the cheap.
I thought it would be cool to make it all from scratch but not the homebrew digital camera kind. any tips?

Seems to me that I have seen many motion activated toys for around $10. Just find one that closes a switch and put the switch in the red battery lead. Its only video and you can't transmit far, maybe 100 feet in the trees but it should work.

I was thinking that the transmitting would be the problem I was hoping to be able to just hook the camera up to something that was able to record the video and that ran on batteries cause it seems like It would be a little cheaper but I guess after buying all the parts its best to just buy one

My motto is why buy something that I can build at twice the cost. Most of my homebrew projects end up costing more. I like too many bells and whistles

I think we think the same, Im looking into getting a kit to make my own beer, sure I can buy it but it would be so much more fun to make my own
