My favorite when I was growing up was a Mepps. 
For the last 15+ yrs it's been a Kastmaster.  I like the different ways it's able to be used.
My backup is a sinking rapala.... sometimes when the Kastmaster doesn't work it does!
Most of my fishing is mainly for trout and steelhead, very little salmon.

Mine used to be the Kastmaster, until I stumbled on the Chatterbait.  I've caught 4 species on the trout/panfish style and 3 on the regular style in one day.

I make my own plastic worms from a mold that I designed in high school.  They will usually out fish any manufactured worm 10 to 1.  Plus I have some 3-4 color combos that you will never see in the store that work like gangbusters.  I use to sell them but no longer have the time.

Not really lucky lures, they just perform.  I will run through crankbaits until I find one that consistently catches fish.  Then it becomes a go-to lure.  With crankbaits you can tune them a little, but if they don't have just the right action and if they don't pull in the fish, then they are given away.  This is my current crop of performers (Mag Wart, Wiggle Warts, and Hot Shots).
