Would you be happy with this buck?
« on: July 12, 2009, 06:53:40 PM »
My friend has a ranch in Montana. He charges most people a pretty good trespass fee to hunt. He only lets a couple people a year hunt on the ranch ( 13,000 acres ) He lets us hunt for free. He did not want us killing any 4X4 big bucks. Save them for people that pay. That was fine with me. He said we can shoot any 3X4 or any buck with crab claws. There are a ton of bucks and my friend shot this buck in the picture. it had crab claws. Would you be happy with this buck even though it's a " management buck ".

i'd have no problem shooting that buck, especially if it was a "management buck" type hunt.

Good enough for me, especially on a management hunt.  Some guys pay big $ to shoot a buck like that.

I'd slap him down just because of his eyeguards.  I think he got lucky they considered that a management buck, crab claw or not.  SWEET

i would be happy with that management buck because you got to hunt prime land for free and take a nice buck too.  how wide is he about 27"?

IMHO, Any buck you can put down and use, is a good buck, I know many who have shot spikes (in various areas) and were very happy with the animal.  The buck you take, you should always be happy with. (people starving overseas ya know... ) :P

Seems to be part of him missing.  I’d pass, he’s all head an antlers, not enough meat there for a good pot of stew.

I would be more then happy with him given the circumstances.  Tell him congrats.  If he had fun doing it and he is pleased then that should be enough for him.
