trigger pull scale / gauge

What trigger pull scale do you use?  I am about to buy one, and was curious if the Lyman digital is justifed at $60+ or if the RCBS and other brands are better.

Give me your thoughts as I am looking to buy and wanted to make sure that I got what works the best.

I have never used the digital ones.  I have used 3 or 4 different spring loaded scales, and they work just fine for doing trigger adjustments.  I even tested 2 against ea. other, and they read exactly the same, so was never an issue for me.

I use the RCBS. I've compared it to the Lyman digital, and it's right with it.  If you're looking to set triggers for competition, then there's no means better than the actual trigger testing weights though.

Call me skinflint (my wife does), but I'd be inclined to use a household scale of an appropriate range. Hang weights from the trigger until it 'breaks', then weigh the weights (and whatever linked them to the trigger). I'd be willing to bet it would be accurate enough. I ordered the lyman  digital.  I figured the extra $30 for something I will use for life should be justified.  I have had good luck with lyman's other electric products  (powder dispenser/scale) love it.

If you're looking to set a varmint/target rifle trigger to 'ounces', then you'll be please that you spent the extra cash on the digital. The RCBS scale is nice down to a pound, but not for the really light stuff.

Hopefully I won't need to go down to a pound, but I want all my guns to be as consistent as possible.  I hate going from one gun with a light crisp trigger to a slow / heavy trigger.

I sight in some of my father-in-laws guns and none of them are consistent and he has far more guns than I do.  Maybe I can convince him to let me set all of the triggers the same - I guess we will see.
